Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered assets worth over ₦500 billion within the last two years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja at the opening of the 7th edition of a judicial capacity-building workshop organized by the EFCC and the National Judicial Institute, Shettima emphasized that the government’s non-interference policy has strengthened anti-corruption institutions and enhanced transparency.

“We have empowered anti-graft agencies like the EFCC by giving them operational independence. The result is evident, over 7,000 convictions and ₦500 billion in recovered assets,” he said, representing President Tinubu at the event.

Shettima also highlighted that the proceeds of recovered assets are being reinvested into critical social programs such as the students’ loan initiative and consumer credit schemes, directly impacting the lives of Nigerians.

In addition, the VP confirmed ongoing efforts to improve the welfare and remuneration of judicial officers, noting that better support for the judiciary is key to sustaining the fight against corruption.

He stressed that no political ally is above the law, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the rule of law and the independence of both the judiciary and anti-corruption bodies.

His final message: Corruption affects every Nigerian, regardless of status, and only a collective, patriotic effort from all arms of government can truly rid the nation of graft.
Let’s continue to demand accountability, transparency, and justice for all.
