CRAN Mourns Former IGP Solomon Arase — A True Ally of the Press

The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has paid heartfelt tribute to the late former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, describing him as a rare gem in the force and a dependable friend to journalists. CRAN President, Olalekan Olabulo, recalled Arase’s deep connection with crime reporters, dating back to his days at the SCID, Yaba a bond he never broke, even as IGP and Chairman of the Police Service Commission. Arase’s humility, media-friendly stance, and passion for reform made him a beacon of hope and a mentor to many.

In their touching message, CRAN hailed him as a visionary who respected the power of journalism in strengthening democracy and accountability. “Nigeria has lost one of its finest law enforcement minds,” Olabulo said, adding that Arase’s legacy will live on.
