2027: PDP IN QUIET TALKS AS MORE PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS EMERGE BEHIND THE SCENES

PDP leaders and stakeholders in a closed-door political strategy meeting ahead of the 2027 elections.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that several influential politicians are quietly positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race, beyond the widely discussed names like former President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Speaking in Abuja, the party’s Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, emphasized that internal negotiations and consultations are ongoing to identify a credible, unifying candidate with national appeal.

He noted that many southern political figures have begun discreet outreach to party stakeholders, carefully building momentum ahead of official declarations.

Osuoha clarified that the party’s immediate focus is the upcoming national convention, where new national officers will be elected to shape the PDP’s direction leading up to 2027. He stressed the party’s commitment to a transparent and democratic primary process that will reflect its values.

His remarks follow recent comments by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, who acknowledged Jonathan, Obi, and Makinde as possible contenders, while also hinting at other strong candidates emerging from the South.

With less than two years to go before primaries, the PDP appears focused on unity and strategy to challenge the ruling APC effectively.
