GOVERNOR MUTFWANG PRESENTS ₦914 BILLION “BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION AND SUSTAINABILITY 2.0” FOR PLATEAU STATE 2026

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has presented a ₦914.8 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The financial plan, tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0,” is aimed at strengthening governance, boosting economic growth, and improving the welfare of citizens across the state.

The proposed budget consists of ₦341 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 37.32%, and ₦573 billion for capital projects, accounting for 62.68% of the total.

Funding is expected to come from internally generated revenue (IGR), the state’s share of federal allocations (FAAC), aids, grants, and the Capital Development Fund (CDF).

Governor Mutfwang explained that the 2026 proposal builds on the performance of the 2025 budget, which focused on growth and development.

The new budget represents an increase of ₦306 billion from the previous year’s approved figure, reflecting the administration’s determination to expand infrastructure and sustain economic progress.

The key focus areas for 2026 include agriculture and rural development, mining and mineral development, industry, trade and investment, tourism, health, education, and infrastructure renewal.

The administration also reaffirmed its commitment to peace, security, and good governance, the core pillars of its strategic development framework.

In the sectoral breakdown, the administrative sector is allocated ₦125 billion, the economic industry ₦232 billion, law and justice ₦21 billion, and social services ₦119 billion.

Governor Mutfwang expressed optimism that the budget will consolidate gains from previous years while ensuring that resources are directed toward people-oriented projects.

He called on the State House of Assembly to expedite consideration and approval to enable timely implementation.

The Speaker of the House, Daniel Naalong, pledged the legislature’s commitment to a speedy passage of the budget, emphasizing continued collaboration with the executive to achieve the state’s development objectives.
