The Federal Government has restated its commitment to safeguarding learning environments nationwide, with the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, assuring continued funding for education, teacher salaries, school feeding, and the Safe School Initiative.
Speaking at the 2025 International Students’ Day celebration in Abuja, she described Nigerian youth as a shared national responsibility and praised their resilience, creativity, and role in shaping the country’s leadership and intellectual future.
The event, organised by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, also underscored the transformative impact of education on national development.

Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Sunday Asefon, honoured top-performing students from universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and the Nigerian Law School with scholarships, laptops, cash prizes, and other empowerment tools, while exceptional secondary-school students each received N100,000.
He noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to student welfare and development.
As the nation marked International Students’ Day, originating from the 1939 Nazi crackdown on Czech students, this year’s theme, “Empowering Students to be Agents of Change,” highlighted patriotism, productivity, and the advancement of student rights and unity.
