"Governor Ademola Adeleke flags off major road projects in Osun State, marking the start of infrastructure upgrades across the region.

Osun State is on the rise and you can feel it in the air. The hum of machinery, the sight of bulldozers carving new paths, and the optimism in people’s eyes all tell the same story, something big is happening.

And at the heart of it is Governor Ademola Adeleke, who on Monday set in motion a new chapter in Osun’s journey with the flag-off of major road projects that promise to reshape lives and livelihoods, transforming transportation and boosting the state’s economy.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, officially flagged off the second phase of the Osogbo–Ikirun–Ila Odo dual carriageway, a massive 39-kilometre road project that connects six key towns and extends to the Kwara State boundary. Simultaneously, he performed the groundbreaking for the dualization of the Ila Orangun township road, marking another bold step in opening up rural and urban access across the state.

“The first phase of this dualization project was stuck since 2012,” Adeleke reminded the crowd in Ikirun, where the ceremony was held, that it was completed within the first 100 days in office, and the second phase which is equally about 39 kilometres they are committing to complete it within 12 months.

From Promise to Performance…

True to his word, Adeleke has moved from campaign to on-ground delivery.

From Promises to Reality—With Purpose

Since taking office in November 2022, Governor Adeleke has gone beyond words. His leadership is showing up in tarred roads, flyovers taking shape, and long-forgotten communities finally seeing the glow of development.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s already been done:

  • Over 175 kilometres of roads reconstructed, rehabilitated, or renovated
  • Township road completions in:
    • Oba Jinsin/Ita Obajoko (2km)
    • Ogunlade–Kamila Junction
    • Ajagunla Street
    • Aregun Junction–Ogunlolu Road in Ila (1.8km)
  • Ongoing major projects:
    • Ilesa dualisation – 78% done
    • Ile-Ife flyover – 75% done
    • Oke-Fia flyover – 95% completed
    • LAMECO flyover – 55% underway
    • Oke Gada bridge – 100% complete
    • 1.5km roads across all LGAs – nearing completion

And now, Ila is next. The Governor has launched the first phase of the 3.5km Ila township dualization project, promising to deliver it within 10 months. He also confirmed the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ila–Ora–Oke Ila road, which has reached Oke Ila junction and will continue without pause.

Building Roads, Building the Economy….

But these aren’t just roads, they’re lifelines. Governor Adeleke emphasizes the strategic economic impact of infrastructure development. Improved road networks mean easier movement of people and goods, faster access to markets, enhanced tourism, and stronger social cohesion.

“We are not just laying asphalt; we are laying the foundation for economic revival. Osun must be accessible, connected, and ready for business,” he said.

The Governor also called on residents and traditional rulers to support and protect the ongoing projects, assuring that no project will be left abandoned under his administration.

A Government in Motion!

Governor Adeleke’s rapid approach to governance has earned attention both within and outside the state. His unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises, particularly those involving long-abandoned or delayed projects, has reignited hope and confidence among citizens and key stakeholders.

With a bold target to deliver major infrastructure within a year, the message is clear: Osun is building for the future, and the road ahead looks promising literally.

Governor Adeleke’s bold push for infrastructure is more than a political milestone—it’s a heartfelt response to the needs of the people. Every kilometre of road laid is a step closer to better healthcare access, stronger local economies, safer travel, and a more united Osun State.

As bulldozers move and foundations are laid, the message is clear: progress is no longer a promise, it’s a reality under construction.

In communities once overlooked, hope is returning. And in every town the road touches, the future is arriving—smooth, connected, and full of possibilities.

Osun is moving forward and this time, no one is being left behind.
