Sudden Loss of a Respected Leader

The Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Ahmed Hardawa, has sadly passed away. His death was confirmed on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Abuja after a brief illness.

This was announced in a statement on Wednesday by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed.

A Legacy of Service and Integrity

Governor Mohammed described Hardawa as a dedicated public servant and patriotic Nigerian. He noted Hardawa’s impactful service as a Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba and Nasarawa, where he earned respect for his fairness and diligence.

As BASIEC Chairman, Hardawa helped strengthen democracy at the grassroots. He was known for promoting credible elections and upholding the rule of law.

Tributes and Final Farewell

The governor praised Hardawa’s humility, wisdom, and leadership. He extended deep condolences to Hardawa’s family, BASIEC staff, and the people of Hardawa and Misau Emirate Councils.

The funeral prayer (Janazah) is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Emir’s Palace, Bauchi.

Governor’s Final Prayer

Governor Mohammed prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) grant the late Hardawa eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and give his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
