Notorious Gang Leader Finally Caught After Years on the Run!

After years of evading justice, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, has finally been dragged before the law. The 44-year-old suspected assassin, infamous for terrorizing communities in Mushin and beyond, was arrested in a dramatic police operation and is now facing the heat in court.

The Charges: 11 Counts of Murder, Arms Possession & More

The Lagos State Police Command has charged Akinwande with 11 serious offences, ranging from murder, unlawful possession of firearms, to attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

He’s being arraigned at the Ogba Magistrate Court, where chilling details of his alleged crimes are coming to light.

Among the key charges:

  • Double murder of Bankole Yusuf and Ramadan Yusuf on July 31, 2024 in Mushin.
  • Killing of 10-year-old Aminat Lateef in Fadeyi back in 2010.
  • Attempted murder and permanent disability of a 58-year-old woman, Awawu Ajalara, in 2011.

Caught with a Deadly Arsenal

The operation that led to Akinwande’s arrest, code-named “Silence, Speed and Surprise”, was carried out by the Lagos State Command’s Tactical Squad at his hideout in Agbado, Ogun State.

Recovered from his residence were:

  • Two AK-47 rifles
  • One K2 assault rifle
  • Two locally made pistols
  • Over 150 rounds of live ammunition
  • Walkie-talkies and a poisonous dagger

According to police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, Akinwande freely admitted these weapons were used in his gang’s operations.

He Eluded Arrest for Years

Olori Eso had long been a thorn in the side of law enforcement, known for orchestrating violent clashes and killings across Mushin and surrounding areas. After multiple failed attempts to apprehend him, detectives finally tracked him to Alagbado, where he was arrested without warning.

With such serious charges, Wasiu Akinwande could be looking at a life sentence or worse if convicted. The court proceedings at Ogba are expected to attract widespread attention, as more shocking revelations emerge about the feared underworld figure.
