BREAKING: OSUN AMOTEKUN COMMANDER SURVIVES ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IN OSOGBO

Osun Amotekun Commander Adekunle Omoyele survives assassination attempt in Osogbo

In a shocking development, the Commander of Osun State’s Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Omoyele, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt late Monday night, October 6.

According to a statement by the Corps’ spokesperson, Mr. Abass Yusuf, the incident occurred around 10:05 p.m. along Ikirun Road, near Charity Hotel in Osogbo.

Commander Omoyele was reportedly driving home alone after work when unknown gunmen ambushed his vehicle and opened fire. His car was riddled with bullets.

Even more alarming, Yusuf revealed that earlier that same day, about 15 armed and masked men stormed the commander’s private residence.

Witnesses say the attackers arrived in a Hilux van and a Toyota Highlander SUV, indicating a well-coordinated and targeted attack.

“This was not just an attempt on one man’s life,” Yusuf said, “but an attack on the very symbol of grassroots security in our state.”

The commander sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment under protective watch at an undisclosed hospital.

The case has been reported to the Ota-Efun Police Division, and investigations are underway.

Rising Security Concerns
This assassination attempt comes amid rising tension and scrutiny surrounding the Amotekun Corps.

Just recently, Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered a full investigation into the reported killings of residents in Akinlalu Community by Amotekun operatives.

The governor has since sent a high-level delegation to the community to find out what really happened.

Citizens are being urged to remain calm and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to security agencies.

A Question for the Public:

How safe are our security operatives when those tasked with protecting us are now targets themselves?
