Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party, citing the persistent leadership crisis at the national level.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page Monday night, Adeleke revealed that he had already submitted his resignation letter on November 4, 2025, to party leaders in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government.
According to him:
“Due to the ongoing crisis within the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (#OfficialPDPNig) at the national level, I officially conveyed my resignation letter to the party leadership on November 4, 2025.
I sincerely appreciate the party, its members, and supporters for the opportunities I’ve had, first as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and now as Governor of Osun State.”

Earlier reports from the state chapter of the PDP suggested that Adeleke might not seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless the internal disputes were resolved. Party leaders had expressed hope that a solution recognized by INEC could convince him to reconsider.
With this resignation now confirmed, the political landscape in Osun enters a new phase, and many await further clarity on the governor’s next political move.
