EDO QUEENS FIGHT BACK! Club Petitions CAF, Demands Annulment of Controversial WAFU-B Final
BENIN CITY — VOS TV NEWS
Edo Queens Football Club has formally petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF), demanding the annulment of the controversial continuation of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifying final against Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
The dispute followed the original final played in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on September 5, 2026.
The match ended 2–2 after regulation time, with Edo Queens subsequently winning 4–1 on penalties.
However, following an appeal by Ampem Darkoa Ladies, CAF ordered the match to resume from extra time.
The continuation took place in Cairo, Egypt, on October 29, with Edo Queens suffering defeat.
In its petition, the Nigerian club raised concerns about the change of venue, player eligibility and communication surrounding the rescheduled encounter.
Edo Queens also questioned the arrangements made for its delegation and requested access to relevant match documentation.
The club is asking CAF to declare the October 29 continuation invalid. Alternatively, it wants a full replay under properly regulated conditions.
The controversy has generated renewed discussion about sporting fairness, tournament regulations and the treatment of participating clubs.
The allegations remain those of Edo Queens, and the club’s petition does not itself establish that CAF or tournament officials violated the rules.
VOS TV News will monitor any official decision on the petition.
